Presentation
These three pieces by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, one of them a première, highlight the cohesion and force of an extraordinary choreographic language, which debuted with Preljocaj’s first pieces nearly forty years ago.
Returning to two of his most famous choreographies, along with one new presentation, Angelin Preljocaj revives an approach that has lost none of its power. The nuptial and funeral ritual of Noces, to a score by Stravinsky, unleashes real and artificial bodies to exorcise fears and exalt the banal barbarism of weddings. With Annonciation, to a score by Vivaldi, Preljocaj explores the holy moment of the Immaculate Conception. A pas-de-deux between the angel and the virgin carries with it all the carnal power of this episode in the mysteries of faith, as if to challenge more than ever the meaning behind a union of body and mind.
