Presentation

Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, who triumphed last season with his recital Airs oubliés (Forgotten Arias), returns to the stage at Versailles accompanied by Christina Pluhar, another regular feature at the Opéra Royal of the Château de Versailles, for the kind of original programme they like to concoct together.

In Passacalle de la Follie, the two musicians invite us to discover the airs de cour. These refined melodies, forgotten gems of 17th-century French music (Antoine Boësset, Étienne Moulinié, Michel Lambert, and many others) are the ideal showcase for their chemistry. Combining intimacy with a hint of madness, this programme is an immersion in the courtly love and poetry of the early Baroque, with all its energy, its art of improvisation and its abundant instrumentals.

The famously creative Christina Pluhar lights up the rich instrumental ensemble of the Arpeggiata with shimmering colours.
