Presentation
For his new creation, Thierry Malandain brings together Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Four Seasons composed by Giovanni Antonio Guido, in the same programme. Bringing these two compositions together in the same programme is a bold gamble: other than the fact that the pieces are contemporaries that both celebrate nature, they are very different.
This new creation by the Biarritz-based choreographer will be just as exciting to follow, given his meticulous respect for the integrity of a score and the assertive musicality of his writing. For Malandain, The Four Seasons is the logical next stage in the journey already embarked upon with his previous ballets based on humanity’s relationships with nature and the living world.
Show moreThis will be his fourth commission from the Opéra Royal – which has co-produced the piece – after Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Marie-Antoinette. Prepare for an explosive fusion of dance and music!
