Gaétan Jarry has composed a royal programme if ever there was one. Charpentier’s famous Te Deum, which rang out in 1692 for the victory at Steenkerque, would have an unforeseeable destiny for its author : in 1953 it became the Eurovision theme tune for the broadcast of the coronation of Elizabeth II. This is a perfect link with Handel’s grandiose Coronation Anthems, sumptuously recorded by the same performers in 2023.  

At the helm of the Chœur et l’Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal, Gaétan Jarry places the music of the English Crown alongside the Te Deum by the “Angel of French Baroque music”, with victorious trumpets and martial timpani drums supporting the choral acclamations. A majestic and dazzling programme under the vaulted ceiling of the Royal Chapel !
