Crusades Room

Homepage Crusades Room

The Château de Versailles Crusades Room created by Louis-Philippe in 1843 is adorned with the coats of arms and names of the main crusade leaders. The paintings of the Crusades Room were all commissioned by Louis-Philippe from the most reputed history painters of his time to relate the main episodes of the eight crusades (from the end of the 11th century to the end of 18th century). They are presented in a neogothic background, unexpected in Versailles and typical of the “troubadour” fashion of the romantic period.

Today, the Crusades Room is the venue for some concerts of the musical season.
