Presentation
Bach and Vivaldi never met. However, after discovering Vivaldi’s concertos, Bach transcribed them for organ and various instruments, so great was the potential of this new form for lyricism and inexhaustible rhythmic vitality. Combining movements from Bach and Vivaldi’s concertos is ideal for the most beautiful baroque choreography. And dedicating half of the program to the famous Four Seasons presents an exciting challenge for choreographer Marie-Geneviève Massé, a magnificent specialist in baroque dances. She spins the performers and their costumes through steps and figures inspired by the 18th century, creating a performance where the Orchestra of the Royal Opera shines from every section, with Stefan Plewniak’s violin solo leading through Vivaldi’s vibrant music!
