William Christie reunites with French soprano Sandrine Piau around the Handelian repertoire, for a musical anthology combining bravura arias and Concerti grossi. One of the highlights of the Les Arts Florissants season !

The artistic bond between William Christie and Sandrine Piau goes back many years, as does their shared affinity for the music of George Frideric Handel, of which they are both acclaimed interpreters. This new concert programme showcases the flexibility of the soprano voice with a selection of Handel’s finest arias, paired with instrumental works written in the same Italianate style – the Concerti grossi. These concerti, clearly inspired by those of the Italian violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli, will be conducted for the occasion by Emmanuel Resche-Caserta, first violin and musical assistant to William Christie.

It will be a concert of passion and intergenerational sharing !
