If there is one work capable of stirring the soul, it is undoubtedly Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. Composed on his deathbed at the age of twenty-six, this musical testament has become one of the cornerstones of the Baroque repertoire, moving generations of listeners with its melancholic grace and infinite tenderness. Alongside it, Antonio Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater reveals a distinctly Venetian fervour, where profound contemplation meets a masterful sense of dramatic contrast. As a final highlight, Franz Schubert’s celebrated Ave Maria will bring a touch of Romantic serenity to this exceptional evening.

Just a few weeks after her first-ever recital at the Royal Opera, Nadine Sierra returns to the splendour of Versailles for this sacred programme, which she will illuminate with her artistry. The equally remarkable countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, a familiar figure on the Versailles stage, joins the American soprano in a passionate lyrical partnership. Under the direction of Chloé de Guillebon, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera provides the perfect setting for this meeting between two of the most influential musical personalities of their generation.
