For several years now, the Royal Opera Orchestra has been led by the young conductor Théotime Langlois de Swarte, whose energy and inventiveness have fuelled this outstanding artistic partnership. Together, they embark on the monumental cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies, in a first for the Royal Opera !

Ludwig van Beethoven’s final symphonic work, the Ninth Symphony transcends the boundaries of music to become a universal symbol of fraternity. A true artistic testament, it breaks with every established convention, bringing the human voice into the heart of the orchestra in a dazzling finale, with Schiller’s Ode to Joy at its centre.

From the opening storm of the first movement to the celestial serenity of the Adagio, the work unfolds as an ascent towards the light. Here, the genius of Bonn unleashes unprecedented choral and orchestral power, creating a true apotheosis in which pure emotion meets a monumental musical architecture.

To conduct this masterpiece, Théotime Langlois de Swarte is reunited with the Royal Opera Orchestra and Chorus, joined by an exceptional quartet of soloists.
